Tugboat storytime

We went to a storytime on an actual tugboat. We weren't there long enough to get seasick, but we got to wander the boat for quite a while on our own. And while we were there, Adam and Addy let me (and Kennedy - attached in the Ergo) practice my outdoor photography shots. Aren't they just the cutest models?

Kennedy watched from under her blanket on the stands on this one, but the rest of us had fun on the ice. It seems crazy that they actually make skates in Addy's size!!

Catching up (again)

Adam's parents were in town the past week and pictures of their visit will follow soon, but first, we'll catch up a little. Here's Addy on a lazy morning. It's very unusual for her to be this cozy for long - but that morning, I guess the mood just struck her and she enjoyed some good, old-fashioned down-time.

It's not a great picture (I was trying to get some St. Patty's Day shots - though that didn't really pan out), but it's the first that I've posted with the new Just Because lights. Let me tell you, light makes a difference! Wow! Anyway, for now, enjoy the well-lit picture and soon, I'll get some better overall pictures posted soon.

Cheese!

Addy loves to pretend that she's taking pictures. We've had the tripod set up recently (I'm learning how to take pictures of stationary objects!), and Addy quite often will pull her little stool over to the tripod, climb up and pretend she's taking a picture. She always says, "Cheese" as she leans in to take the picture. I don't have the heart to tell her that there's no camera attached. =)

S'more car bars

We spent some time this afternoon making s'more car bars (car because the graham cracker cookies are from Pixar's Cars movie). They're for dessert after dinner so we haven't yet tasted them, but they sure look good!

The coolest park

We found a very cool park (and it's even very close by) recently. Here's Addy testing the slide out!

Ayyam-i-Ha flowers

In celebration of Ayyam-i-Ha, we made a family bouquet of Handprint Paper Lilies. They're kind of hard to see here, but there's a flower for each of us. Addy still carries these around and tries to sniff them (oh, if only those pictures turned out!).

Mardi Gras

Instead of making the traditional king cake We used a recipe for Monkey Bread instead (it was more Addy's speed (and Mommy's too)). And instead of baking a plastic baby into the bread (hello - plastic in a hot oven? and did anyone see this story?), we used a pretzel fish instead. Go with me here - there's no leavening in pretzels (kind of like communion wafers), so it's kind of like the same thing. Kind of. We hope that the Baby Jesus understands. Interestingly enough, we never did find the pretzel fish after baking the cake. I guess it probably softened and went unnoticed. Anyhow, the bread was yummy!

Here's the mask that Addy made for Mardi Gras as well. I think that the feathers tickled as we never could get her to try it on long enough for a picture. Ah well, it's still fun!

Yeah - maybe a bib would have been a good idea... and googles and a shower cap and a face mask...

We're not sure if Kennedy is teething yet or not, but she sure likes chewing on things!

National Polar Bear Week

Since I last posted, we've celebrated National Polar Bear Week. We celebrated by making our own bear river - complete with bears in inner tubes floating by!

Oldies but goodies

Seattle has recently had quite a bit of snow (well, for Seattle anyway). Addy and I went out and played in the "snowflakes" a little during Kennedy's morning nap. What fun!

I took Addy's 2 year pictures quite a while ago and have been wanting to post those along with a video of her two years in pictures. Some of the pictures need to be edited though and I'm learning about better ways to do that. The process is one that I'm excited about, but it's also a slow one even if you forget the fact that I'm still learning.

Anyway, I thought if I forced myself to put those pictures in the next post, I'd get my editing done quickly. Alas, self psychology is lost on me. So now we've got a blog that is hopelessly out of date and still-not-yet-ready-for-posting pictures as well.

We've been keeping up quite a pace around here lately and editing our own pictures is about the last thing on the list. So, I'm changing my plan. I'll catch up on posts in the next couple days and then I'll post Addy's two year post in a few days, or weeks, or you know - whenever. Hopefully they'll be posted by the time she's three! =)

Dr. Seuss' Birthday

We're way behind in our posting (and those picture that are on the hard drive just itching to come off will be posted soon), but we wanted to post our Dr. Seuss' birthday goings-on on his birthday... which is today, so here they are.

Buying The Cat in the Hat and The Cat Came Back with the Dr. Seuss gift card (thank you Bacas!).

Our Oobleck (2 parts cornstarch to 1 part water). Addy wasn't so sure about this. She put her hand in this picture, but it definitely wasn't Oobleck-y (the white stuff on her hand is dry cornstarch!!)

We also went to a Dr. Seuss Birthday Party this evening at a local library as well. The Cat himself was there too!

Left on our list: Making Moose Juice. We'll leave that for tomorrow though, as it was already after bedtime once we got home from the library.
